Headers contain tracking information for an individual email, detailing the path a message took as it crossed mail servers. Included in the header will be any IP addresses or server addresses that the email passed through, the SPF and DKIM results to classify the message with various spam solutions, and any other information that will help us determine the route the message followed. Please provide message headers for any ticket that includes email as an issue. Some tickets that may need this information include spam issues, email bounce issues, non-delivery issues, and any other email related issue.
In order to get the headers for a message in Google Apps, please do the following:
Log in to Gmail
- Open the message you'd like to view headers for.
- Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top of the message pane.
- Select Show Original.
The full headers will appear in a new window.
Please copy and paste these into an attachment, and add the attachment to the ticket.
